Segregation table questions
What does a segregation table do?
It is where staff pick plastic, metal and glass out of the food waste before it reaches the shredder. Rejects drop through a chute into a crate hung below the table, so only food waste moves on. The tray and frame are stainless steel, with a raised-edge top that is easy to wash down.
Why sort the waste before it is shredded?
Sorting keeps plastic, glass and metal out of the shredder, where they can jam the blades. It also means only food waste goes on to the composter. The table sits next to the shredder's hopper, so the sorted waste moves straight in.
How do I clean the segregation table?
At the end of each day, scrape off leftover waste while it is still wet, wash the table and chute with water and mild soap, rinse with clean water and wipe it dry. Wash the reject crate too. Never use bleach, acid, steel wool or wire brushes, because they damage the steel.
How can staff handle sharp items safely?
Staff should wear thick rubber gloves, an apron and closed shoes, and keep a hard box ready for broken glass, blades and needles, never a soft bag. Pick sharp things up with tongs, and spread the waste out instead of pushing a hand deep into a pile, because glass and needles hide inside.
Is the table sold with the composter?
Yes. A segregation table is part of the full package sold with every composter, along with racks and crates, feeding steps, a weighing machine, sawdust, transport, commissioning and IoT monitoring. It is also a standalone unit, used with a shredder in municipal waste sheds.
What comes with the segregation table?
The order includes transport, installation and commissioning, staff training, a complete tool set at handover, and a 2-year warranty with complete spares. An annual maintenance contract (AMC) is available once the warranty ends, and support guides for the table are on this website in five languages.
