The opportunity

Gopalan Habitat Splendor Apartments, part of the Gopalan Homes Group, became one of the most significant installations in Innovus’s growth journey. The project placed our composting technology in the heart of Bengaluru—and ultimately opened the door to further opportunities across the Gopalan network, including Gopalan Millennium and Gopalan Urban Woods.

Building trust through technical answers

The enquiry journey lasted close to a year. While the customer appreciated the technology, a key concern was service support: Innovus is based outside Bengaluru, so the customer needed confidence that maintenance and technical response would be practical and dependable.

We addressed that concern by presenting our Bengaluru support ecosystem, including local service resources, welding units, laser-cutting facilities and machine shops. This demonstrated that the project would be supported by a practical local network, rather than relying only on travel from our home base.

The Gopalan team was also exceptionally knowledgeable about composting technology. They had spent years evaluating the concept and shared a detailed questionnaire containing approximately 40–50 technical questions. We worked through the questions carefully and provided clear, technically grounded answers. Across multiple rounds of discussion and around six to seven trips between locations, we continued refining our proposal.

Competing against established multinational machine builders, we earned the customer’s confidence through persistence, technical clarity and a willingness to work through the details.

Planning the installation before arriving on site

The customer identified three possible locations for the equipment. Innovus converted each option into a 3D layout to show the proposed machine position, electrical requirements and exhaust arrangement. These visual layouts helped the team understand how the system would fit into each space and supported a more informed site decision.

The final location, near the car-parking area, came with a major constraint: there was no practical provision for exhausting the machine-room air outdoors. Although the composter included a six-stage air-filtration system and ozone injection, hot and humid exhaust air circulating inside a confined room could still affect the working environment and complicate operation. A standard installation approach was not enough; the site required a solution designed around its limitations.

The engineering challenge: converting hot air into water

The room had a water-drain provision but no suitable air-exhaust route. Innovus therefore designed a dedicated heat exchanger for this project, with an automatic cooling arrangement and purpose-built sensors to help maintain the unit at a controlled, low temperature. The exhaust stream from the machine was directed through the heat exchanger, where moisture in the hot air condensed into water droplets that could be drained away.

A critical design requirement was to achieve condensation without creating back pressure that could interfere with the composter’s airflow. The team worked through positioning, air-travel speed, cooling performance and installation calculations, then refined the system through on-site trials. The customer supported this development process over roughly a month, allowing the team to test, observe and improve the solution.

PROJECT BREAKTHROUGH

A purpose-designed, automatically cooled heat exchanger converted the machine’s hot exhaust stream into condensate while avoiding harmful back pressure on the machine.

Results that extended beyond one site

The installation became a turning point for Innovus. The heat-exchanger development strengthened our confidence in solving difficult site-specific exhaust challenges and informed further work on the technology. The project also established trust across the wider Gopalan network, leading to opportunities at Gopalan Millennium and Gopalan Urban Woods.

At approximately one year after installation, the customer reports that the machine is running well, with good output and no noticeable smell or noise concerns. The continued relationship and customer referrals are a strong endorsement of the work carried out at the site.

Why this project matters to Innovus

  • Technical credibility: answered a detailed, specialist questionnaire and earned the confidence of a highly informed customer.
  • Service readiness: demonstrated a practical Bengaluru-based vendor and service ecosystem.
  • Site-specific engineering: used 3D layouts and developed a dedicated heat-exchanger solution for a constrained machine room.
  • Customer-led growth: turned one landmark installation into further opportunities and referrals across the Gopalan network.
“A bullseye project—built on persistence, engineering and trust.”
