Shredder · Standard operating procedure

  1. Sort the waste.Take out plastic, glass, metal and anything that is not food.
  2. Break up big or hard pieces.Whole coconuts, big bones and thick stems can jam the blades.
  3. Stand at the side of the hopper.Never in front of it.
  4. Feed 5 kg at a time, slowly.Never tip in the whole tray. Too much at once clogs the shredder.
  5. Never put your hands into the hopper while the blades turn.

  6. Wait until the hopper is clear. Then add the next 5 kg.
  7. Jammed? Press reverse. Then run it forward again. Still stuck? See Quick fixes.
  8. Crate nearly full? Switch off, then change it.Don't let it overflow.
  9. Switch off when you finish.Wait until the blades stop completely.
  10. Take the shredded waste to the composter.
  11. Clean the blades now, while they are still wet.See Cleaning & care.
